1 year old picky eater....?

Lindsay

My daughter is 1 year old and is the pickiest eater ever. She likes crackers, scrambled eggs, peas, corn, bananas and any type of melon. I can't get her to eat and offer her a variety of different things. She's already tiny for her age and feel bad that she eats less than recommended. Please if you have any kid friendly food ideas please share! I just borrowed the sneaky chef recipe book to try but I can't get her to try half this stuff to begin with.

My daughter is 14mnths n we go through the same thing. my moms always said its better for her to be eating healthy foods than junk n if shes choosing to just eat veggies n fruits let her. She is not eating "real food" try substiuting baby food i found this works someday with my daughter just keep trying she may have a little stomach. are friends daughter is a few mnths old (2 or 3) she can eat 2 slices of pizza where my daughter can only eat 1/2 slice they know when they are hungry and full. just keep introducing new stuff. i have also found with meat after u cut it up real small take the small jar of chicken n chicken gravy baby foos etc (beef turkey) n mix it in that shes more willing to eat it. we also keep beechnut toddler foods in the house for the days she wont eat our food

Planning a menu for my son's 1st birthday- need recipe for meatballs and cake/icing- anyone got one to share?

..

For my son's first birthday later this month, my husband and I were thinking we definitely want a sugar free cake and icing, however we want it to be something special so we were also planning on giving him red meat for the first time.

Our reasons for giving sugar free are because we have a strong family history of obesity and diabetes, which my husband and I both managed to overcome despite some obstacles along the way. We'd like to get our son started on the right path so that he never has to fight as hard as we did to get healthy during our teen years.

I have made all of my son's baby food since he first started solids- he's never had processed foods before. He loves food! Cinnamon, garlic, pasta, cheese, chicken, fruits, veggies- the kid is a great eater!

We were hoping to give him meatballs for the main course, however my only meatball recipes are alittle too spicy for a 1 year old, does anyone have any more plain recipes that they could recommend to be easy on the tummy?

Also, we've had wonderful luck finding several excellent sugar free cake recipes that use apple sauce or pumpkin as a means of making the cake sweet, however we haven't been able to find any sugar-free icing recipes. (The only sugar free icing recipes that I could find called for equal and I'm not giving my kid an artificial sweetener that is just as bad as the real thing in my book.) I was hoping to find a recipe that used more natural ways of sweetening the icing, such as applesauce or banana...would anyone have an icing recipe to share that is more natural?

If anyone can help us out or point us in the right direction via web link then that would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Answer
For cream cheese frosting:

or you could dust the cake with a tiny bit of powdered sugar

or melt some no-sugar-added fruit jam over the top
