Beagle bab
My daughter just turned 9 months old yesterday, for about a weeks or so she has been refusing to eat baby food. She started solids around 4 months old and was doing fine with eating baby food/cereal 2 x a day up until about a little over a week ago, when I put her in her highchair she pushes against the tray and he face gets red like she is trying to poop and she just wont eat, I tried giving her a spoon of her own and singing to her nothing seems to help. Any suggestions? She is seeing her doc in a couple days for a well visit

all babies will go through a stubborn time. its ok. try giving your baby some real food, like mashed potatoes. something with more flavor. or buy some graduates food, they have really healthy baby yogurt..it may help

Food ideas for 9 month old?
lovin' my
My baby is almost 9 months old and is refusing baby food and is only drinking like 15-20 oz of milk a day. He doesn't have any teeth, so I'm looking for some ideas on what he could be eating. He eats the gerber graduates stuff like puffs, yogurt melts, biter biscuits. He also likes Club crackers and toast. We've tried mashing up green beans, peas etc. But he's not really into those either--he'll take a spoonful and then turn away and cry/whine and hide his face into the side of the high-chair. We've also tried the baby food that has meat in it so he gets some protein, but he TOTALLY refused and threw a fit about the 3 different kinds we tried. I know all they need is breastmilk/formula for the first year, but he's not really interested in that either. It seems that he just wants to eat all by himself--toast, crackers, puffs anything he can pick up himself. I tried doing that with cooked green beans, but it didn't work either, unfortunately! We have his 9 month appt May 1st, so I can ask my doc then...he's always been in the 75th or higher percentile in height and weight. I'm just looking for more ideas on food that is ok for him to be eating being he has no teeth. Also, if anyone knows the healthiest kind of bread for a baby, that would be appreciated as well! Thanks!

Heres the thing...even when they have teeth they don't actually use them to chew their food. They use their gums where they will adventually get molars (my son is getting his now at 14 months). So don't be afraid to try new things, teeth are not a requirement. My son has been eating what we eat ever sense he was about 8 months. The trick is to get the peices small enough depending on what it is. For example...when he was nine months old bread can be broken up to the size of a quarter but steak i had to SHREAD smaller than shreaded cheese so that if it was too tuff for him to chew with his gums he could still swallow it without choking. So explore away!!!
Here are a few things to be careful with though...
HOT DOGS....a lot of babies choke on hot dogs (we started those at 11 months)
Chips....I still don't give my son chips and he is 14 months now
Hard uncooked veggies.. like carrots (he still does not get these either)
Stringy fruits... like oranges
as for ideas this is our usual..
Bananas and cherios or frenchtoast/waffles (no syrup) or muffins for breakfast
apple and chicken or pb and j or grilled chese for lunch
and what ever i make for my husband and i is what he usually gets for dinner.
But keep in mind that my little man is 14 months and doctors say that untill a year old their main sorce of nutrition should be their bottle. At that age my doc said to make sure that i got at least 18-24 ouces in him per day and that anything on top of that should be solids.
Hope this helped.
Oh, and i get Wonder Kids made by Wonder Bread, it has more nutrients in it and he loves it!!!!
