I just found out that I'm preggers! My fiancee and i are quite excited.
I was curious as to what foods you should eat during pregnancy as well as what vitamins i should take?

I want to do anything and everything that will keep my baby healthy and safe.

Any tips as well as answers to my question are welcome!
Wish me luck!
P.S.
I'm due December 6th. I was a December baby so I'm excited to be having one too!

Answer
congratulations! THAT'S SO EXCITING!!!!

OK, so the first thing you need is a vitamin. You need Folic Acid today ... not tomorrow ... today .... because the vital time for spinal development is day 17-31 which is probably this week! If you don't have any vitamins at home, just have a bowl of breakfast cereal which contain 400mcg. You need 600mcg a day, or maybe 800, but you'll also get it from green veggies like broccoli or cooked spinach.

My doctor have me a fabulous prenatal vitamin prescription which has a stool softener when when your bowels start getting smooshed by the baby and makes you constipated. It also has DHA which you need for your baby's brain, but I found that the DHA also stopped me from having crazy fish-in-a-can food cravings LOL. My vitamin is called Prenate DHA and a year's supply was $60 (prescription). If you can't see your doctor for a few weeks, just take a normal multi-vitamin. That's fine too!

You probably already know what's healthy and what isn't; if you're tempted to cook 'bad' food, just splash out on a healthy take-out, like Chinese veggies with plain rice, Mexican (beans yay!) or a veggie pasta sauce. Keep off the heavy fatty foods because they can make morning sickness worse; I found that those little plastic bowls of fruit (designed for kids lunchboxes, I think!) are great for a snack when you get a sudden craving of feel dizzy which happens from low blood sugar in the first trimester. Finally, keep well hydrated -- I drink Vitamin Water because it's full of electrolytes and that helps your cells keep in more water than you can pee out (which, BTW, will be every 2 hours!!!)

Once again, many congrats and enjoy your 9 months!

How much did you gain during your pregnancy and how fast did you lose the weight?

Anne

I gained 45 pounds during my pregnancy and have lost 25 of it and she will be two weeks old Monday. Is this a healthy amount? I really have not had much of an appetite since she was born and I'm not sure why.

Answer
I gained 25 pounds with my son. It came off really quick within the first month. Im sure your not too hungry because your so busy with your baby, just as i was. If your breast feeding it helps also. Just remember to eat foods that will keep your energy up and won't give your baby tummy troubles.
